The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting Tuesday, August 26, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. The meeting will be held in the 7th floor Board Room, and will begin at 9 a.m. This will be a one-day board meeting.
Items on this month’s agenda include the following:
9:10 a.m. Maryland School Assessments
The State Board will receive an update on the design and execution of the 2008 Maryland School Assessments.
9:45 a.m. Standards Setting
The State Board will receive a report on setting the standards for the modified and alternative High School Assessment programs, and is scheduled to act on the recommended standards for those programs. These assessments are administered to some special education students Maryland public high schools.
3:45 p.m. MSDE Budget
The State Board is scheduled to review and act on the Maryland State Department of Education’s fiscal year 2010 budget. Approval will authorize the State Superintendent to submit the budget requests to the Department of Management and Budget.
5:45 p.m. Meeting Dates
The State Board is set to adopt meeting dates for 2009.
