EIGHTH ANNUAL MARYLAND PRINCIPALS' ACADEMY
JULY 30, 31, & AUGUST 1, 2008
(Follow-up sessions on October 30, 2008 & APRIL 1, 2009)
Who: Approximately 135 principals from all 24 Maryland public school systems.
What: The Division for Leadership Development at the Maryland State Department of Education will launch its eighth annual Maryland Principals' Academy from July 30 - August 1, 2008. This yearlong professional development experience is designed to build leadership capacity for the participants who are in their first five years of experience as principals. The content of the Academy is based on the Maryland Instructional Leadership Framework which defines standards for instructional leaders in the State of Maryland.

Program Delivery Systems
- Division for Leadership Development staff and trained veteran principals deliver and design professional development sessions for building leadership skills
- Current information from national, state, and local speakers and researchers who address specific ideas and strategies for increasing teacher and student learning
- Networking opportunities to exchange ideas with colleagues and
experienced principals
- Research-based materials and texts that stimulate thinking and guide discussion about continuous school improvement
