- Baltimore County led the statewide Black Saga competition – winning six of the top 10 rankings. Rodgers Forge Elementary School in Towson placed first; followed in second place by Warren Elementary School in Cockeysville; third place by Westchester Elementary School in Catonsville; and fourth place squad from Cromwell Valley Elementary School in Towson. In the middle school division, Sudbrook Middle Magnet in Pikesville placed third; followed in fourth place by Franklin Middle School in Reisterstown. The academic competition, founded by Dr. Charles Christian, challenges students to answer more than 800 questions about Black history.

- Ten Carroll County public schools students were honored at the 2007 Carson Scholars Fund 11th Annual Awards Banquet. The Carson Scholars Fund Inc. is a nonprofit charity founded in 1994 by Johns Hopkins pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson and his wife, Candy, to recognize students in grades 4-11 for outstanding academic achievement. Students were presented with a certificate and personalized medal; their school received a trophy listing all of its Carson Scholars. The winners included:

- The FCPS Community Agency School Services program ranks first in the nation, winning the 2004 National Civic Star Award for successful school-community partnerships committed to increasing student achievement through strengthening families and building stronger communities. Located in each school feeder community, CASS is a collaborative outreach program that provides confidential support to families of children from birth to 18 years of age to ensure student achievement through access to needed services.

The award recipients maintained a 3.5 academic average and demonstrated commitment to excellence, both academic and personal, including service, character and leadership. - The hearing-impaired program staff at Gwynns Falls Elementary goes above and beyond the challenges of their jobs and the extremely limited technology at their school to provide the best for their students. A supportive relationship between regular education teachers and the principal make the program a success and allow educators to mainstream hearing-impaired children quickly.
